The DarkShadow Vol. 2 #4: Will He Fight

     New York is in a panic, the Underground Citizens have taken over a bank and have also taken
 30 hostages. With Lieutenant Michael and Lieutenant Lydia and other officers surrounding the bank and clearing the area of other citizens. The Underground Citizens have given them 1 hour to relinquish New York to them and evacuate the city, Michael and Lydia discuss with an Negotiator in working on saving the hostages and deal with the Underground Citizens.

Time Remaining: 37 minutes

Michael:

Alright, time's running out have we come up with any plans in saving the hostages.

 

Lydia:

No. They have the place sealed tight and we just did a thermal scanner there are explosives in all the areas that were the most likely to enter. They've really thought this out, until S.W.A.T get's here we can't try to enter without triggering the explosives.

 

Michael:

How long till they arrive?

 

Lydia:

10 minutes.

 

Michael:

Good. What about Negotiations?

 

Negotiator:

They've remain silent. Any attempts in contacting them using the phones in the building have been most likely ignored. They are set in making sure not to speak to us until the time limit.

 

Michael:

Alright... we wait till S.W.A.T. gets here. Once they get here, we need to try to provide a distraction, while they proceed to enter and secure the hostage and detain the hostiles.

 

     Meanwhile a S.W.A.T. truck is driving on the road, heading towards the bank. Inside 6 S.W.A.T. officers are sitting, while one is standing looking at all of them.

 

S.W.A.T. #1:

Alright so here's the OP. We have at least 30 people who are hostages, 9 armed assailants, heavy weapons. They all entrances wired with explosives. Are mission is to disarm the explosives, infiltrate, rescue the hostages and detained the armed assailants. Is that Understood.

 

All S.W.A.T. Officers:

SIR!!

 

      As the S.W.A.T. leader was done briefing his men on the mission, they continued to wait till they get to there destination.

 

     After making a turn, the S.W.A.T. truck continued going straight. Unbeknownst to them on one of the roof of the nearby buildings, a man is standing there, seeing the truck coming his way. The man then takes out a Bazooka  and points it at the truck. As the truck grew closer and closer, the man started to grip the trigger a little.

 

Man #1:

For the True Citizens of New York.

 

     The man said as he squeeze the trigger, firing the bazooka at the S.W.A.T. truck, blowing it up, killing the Officers inside.

 

Time Remaining: 22 minutes

 

     Back to the outside of the bank where the police are standing by, it has already passed the time the S.W.A.T. team were supposed to arrive. A officer approaches Michael and Lydia.

 

Officer #1:

Lieutenants!

 

Lydia:

What is it?

 

Officer #1:

We just received word that the S.W.A.T. truck was attacked.

 

Michael:

WHAT! What happened?

 

Officer #1:

Were not sure. Eye witnesses say of an on coming object approaching the truck in the air and upon impact, the vehicle exploded. No survivors.

 

Michael:

Dammit!

 

     Michael said becoming frustrated, as time was running out.

 

Lydia:

I call in to have another team ready, but they won't get here in time. We need to proceed on our own.

 

     They all remained silent, unsure on how to proceed in saving the hostages.

 

     Inside the bank many of the hostages were becoming more scared, as they knew time was running out for them till the first execution. Meantime one of the Assailants went towards Tammy, the one who broadcast the Undergrounds Citizens demand and warning/threat of executing a hostage within the hour.

 

Assailant #1:

Just got word, as we though they did send for a S.W.A.T. unit to take us out, but it's been neutralized.

 

Tammy:

As expected to them, lucky we took care of it. Now they won't be able to save one of them in time. Get ready to broadcast. It's time to show New York how serious we are in our cause.

 

Assailant #1:

Right.... but which one.

 

Tammy:

I know exactly which one!

 

     She said as they both looked towards the hostages, decided which one will be executed first.

 

Time Remaining: 14 minutes

 

     As time continues to run out for Michael, he sees Lydia right next to him and turns his head to face her.

 

Lydia:



I just finished speaking to the Mayor, and I'm sure you know, they are not summiting to the Undergrounds Citizens demands.

 

Michael:

Of course not. I mean it's ridiculous, there's no way we can just summit to demands like that. I mean relinquishing the city, as all those who live here to just pack up and leave. It's insane!

 

Lydia:

Agreed. But it's not a reason they will accept. You know that.

 

Michael:

Yeah.

 

     As the two remained silent the Negotiator walks in.

 

Negotiator:

Lieutenants, The Underground Citizens want to speak.

 

     They all soon gathered around, by a phone, with the Underground Citizens on the other line.

 

Negotiator:

My name is Edward Miller... Crisis Negotiator. I want to speak to you about resolving~

 

Tammy:

Save your talk. Lieutenants Michael and Lydia, I know you are there.

 

     Tammy said interrupting the Negotiator and calling out to Michael and Lydia.

 

Lydia:

Listen we want talk.

 

Tammy:

We know, but the only words we want to hear is that the City is ours.

 

      Michael, Lydia and the Negotiator were silent and staring at each other for a few moments, over what Tammy wanted to hear.

 

Michael:

Listen we understand that you and your people have been through a lot. even before the Hellfire's attack, and we know you just want to get back what you have all lost. But what you are asking, this city belongs to everyone, you can't just expect us to just leave our home.

 

     Tammy remained silent and Michael, Lydia and the Negotiator just stared at the phone waiting for a reply.

 

Tammy:

We lived in this city just as the rest of you, but then we were chased out, by you all. You have no idea what we went through to try to start a new life, and how we were robbed of our old one, but you will now. Your time is up!

 

     Tammy said as she ended the call. As Michael, Lydia and the Negotiator stood there, staring at each other, an officer walks up to them.

 

Time Remaining: 00 minutes

 

Officer #2:

They're broadcasting again.

 

     They all went towards the small television that they set up and saw Tammy on screen with the hostages behind her. All throughout the broadcast was being shown on television, in bars, homes, the police station, T.V. window displays, the Mayor's office and inside the theatre where the DarkShadow continues to lay on the bed starring at the ceiling.

     Back at the bank, Tammy continues to look towards the camera, wielding a gun.

 

Tammy:



 People of New York, we have given you, your time to submit to our demands, relinquish the city to it's "True" Citizens and for you all to leave... but your leader have rejected this. Now you will see the consequences.

 

     Then one of the other assailants grabbed one of the hostages, (the female bank worker who knew Tammy) and brought her to Tammy and made kneel down on her knees facing the camera. Tammy then pointed her gun at the her and she then began to shed tears in fear.

 

     All of New York saw what was happening, including Michael and Lydia.

 

Michael:

We have to do something? Call them now!

 

     They then tried calling them, they heard the phone in the bank ringing, but saw on the screen, Tammy ignoring the call and let it ring until it was finished.

 

Female Bank Worker:

Tammy please... don't do this, were friends.

 

Tammy:

And that friendship ended when you helped and took everything from me.

 

Female Bank Worker:

I swear I didn't mean for things to go so wrong for you. But, please... I have a husband... a son!

 

Tammy:

I know... Your husband was the man I was dating, but then left me when I lost everything. And you then made your move to have the family I always wanted.

 

     The female bank worker, continued to burst tears and grew more afraid.

 

Female Office Worker:

Tammy, I'm Sor-

 

     Before she could finish saying "sorry", Tammy shot her in the head killing her and having everyone in New York watching on the television screens. 

 

     DarkShadow, still laying on his bed, heard the sounds on the television. He then rose up and looked at the screen seeing the corpse of the female bank worker, then being grabbed and taken away. Then the camera focused on Tammy.

 

Tammy:

You have one hour again to submit to our demands of you don't another hostage will die. We will continue executing hostages till there are none left. And know that the lives that will be taken, will be on you all. This is the punishment you get for what you have done to "US"!

 

     The screen then goes blank, as the countdown of the next execution begins again. As Michael and Lydia continue to work on a planning to save the remaining hostages. 

 

     Meanwhile DarkShadow stares at the blank screen and his right mesh mask eye started to turn dark, and then looked towards his black jacket and the Crimson Blood Sword.

 

     Later the hour went up and the Underground Citizens were broadcasting again throughout New York. Tammy was on screen and the others brought another hostage before her on his knees.

 

Tammy:

Your hour is up and once again, you refuse to give back this city to it's "True" citizens. So you must be punished for denying what's "Ours"!

 

      She then aims her gun towards the hostage head, but before she started gripping the trigger, she and the rest heard a noise outside of the bank.

 

     Outside the bank, Lydia is standing in front of the building, with a speaker phone in her left hand.

 

Lydia:

Underground Citizens! This is Lieutenant Lydia of the New York Police department. we want to talk things over. I understand that you have all been through something rough, been mistreated, abused, betrayed and abandoned. But everyone has gone through something like that in this city. You might feel like your giving yourselves the justice you deserve, but your just becoming worse than the people who have wronged you. This City belongs to everyone, everyone has worked hard to make something in this  City, with little progress and have lost a lot. I understand you have lost more, so let us help you and work together to make this city stronger.

 

     Lydia then stopped speaking into the speaker phone.

 

     Back inside the bank, Tammy was still pointing the gun at the hostage, ready to shoot him on Television.

 

Tammy:

Nice little speech, but "We" will be the ones who will make this city stronger, by getting rid of the ones responsible for making it weak. And reclaim what was taking from us.

 

      Tammy said , with no intention of stopping in killing the hostage. The hostage then looked towards the camera.

 

Hostage:

Honey... kids. I love you!

 

     He said with tears coming from his eyes and smiled. Just as Tammy was about to pull the trigger, something came crashing through the bank concrete wall. Tammy and the others all looked and saw the DarkShadow dropping from the air.

 

Tammy:

Shoot him!

 

     She said to the other assailants, as they pointed they're guns at the DarkShadow ready to fire. As the DarkShadow continue falling from the air inside the bank, he took his left hand, grabbed his chain and swung it towards one of the Underground Citizens and pulling him towards him, then grabbed the Crimson Blood Sword and slice the Underground Citizen in half. The others were shock and hesitated to fire at the DarkShadow, allowing him to land on the floor in the bank. DarkShadow then looked towards the hostages.

 

DarkShadow:

... Duck!

 

     He said, as he then swiftly went towards one of the other Underground Citizens, who panic and started to shoot at the DarkShadow, but the bullets missed him and he disarmed the Underground Citizen and killed him with his sword.

 

Tammy:

KILL HIM!

 

     Tammy yelling out at the others who immediately started to fire at the DarkShadow but he blocked there bullets with his chain and sword. DarkShadow then wrapped his chain around another one of the Underground Citizens and swung him towards the door colliding with it and triggering the explosive place on the door.

     There was a l explosion, causing Tammy and the rest of her men to fall to the floor and knocking the camera over. As one of the of them started to get up, feeling dizzy, but he was then stabbed by the DarkShadow and killed, another started to get up and pointed his gun at DarkShadow, which he then wrapped his chain around his neck and pulled the Underground Citizens towards him and punched him hard in the stomach sending to crash into a wall. DarkShadow then proceeded to kill the rest of Tammy's men with his sword and chain. Tammy who was now regaining consciousness, saw the camera which collapse in front of her. She then proceeded to get up but while on her hands and knees she looked up and saw the DarkShadow looking down towards her. DarkShadow then grabbed her by the throat and choke hold her.

 

Tammy:

Ga- W-why... are y-y-you fighting us. We are the o-ones... trying to save. T-th-this City!

 

     DarkShadow didn't answer and killed Tammy by snapping her neck. He then dropped Tammy and went towards the camera (Still broadcasting) on the floor, DarkShadow then pick it up and pointed it towards him, showing his face to the T.V. screens around New York, with everybody seeing him.

 

DarkShadow:

I know your watching... Underground King! Know that you and your people's goal in wanting to reclaim this City. Means nothing to me! All I desire is a worthy kill, and you are the kill I desire. So you better be ready... cause I'm coming for you!

 

     DarkShadow said, as he then crushed the camera and dropped it on the floor. Soon police officers lead by Lydia charge in and saw the dead Underground Citizens and the DarkShadow.

 

Lydia:

Freeze, your under arrest!

 

     DarkShadow looked at Lydia, then turned into dark smoke and disappeared. Lydia and her men then went to secure the hostages and lead them out, while also checking on the dead Underground Citizens.

 

Officer #2:

Ma'am, this ones still breathing.

 

     The officer said next to the Underground Citizen that DarkShadow punched sending him to a wall.

 

     Later on that night Michael is waiting on a roof top.

 

DarkShadow:

I'm not some Uber driving to call!

 

     DarkShadow said meeting with Michael on the roof.

 

Michael:

I just wanted to say thanks in saving the hostages. But those people, the Underground Citizens... you didn't have to kill them. These people... they've been through harsh times and just want what was taken from them, wanting to live in the city again, live in there home. What they're doing is not the way to solve it, but killing them is not gonna solve anything.

 

DarkShadow:

I don't care about that. I am going after the Underground King and if his people stand in my way, they will die.

 

Michael:

I ask for your help, in hopes we can truly work together and bring these people to justice not to~

 

     Before he could finish, DarkShadow grabbed Michael by the neck and lifted him up.

 

DarkShadow:

Listen, I don't care what becomes of this city, what becomes of it's people. I desire, I must kill. I don't care about justice. So stay out of my way!

 

     DarkShadow then turned into dark smoke, releasing Michael and disappeared, leaving Michael on the roof alone.

 

     Meanwhile, in the Underground of New York, a television is showing the DarkShadow giving his threat to the Underground King, who is watching, with other.

 

Underground King:

This does not stop us, proceed to the next step!

 

     He said as he turned off then television.
