The DarkShadow Vol. 2 #10: Catskill/Delaware Part 2

    In the wake of the Underground Citizens latest threat, Michael and Lydia are entering a office. Inside they are met with the Mayor and the Silver Knight. They then discuss the situation and how to handle it.

Mayor:

How is things going, in handling the situation.

 

Lydia:

We have officer at the facilities and they are securing the area. They've been instructed to remain on standby until further orders.

 

Michael:

We estimate they have 50 hostages total in the facilities, we also know that the one in charge... The Underground Prince is at the Delaware facility.

 

Mayor:

Alright... Now. What are our worst possible outcomes.

 

Silver Knight:

Sir, if I may.

 

     The Silver Knight said, as he then raised his arm and a holographic projection of bot of the facilities were display to the Mayor, Michael and Lydia.

 

Silver Knight:

90% of the cities water is derived from these facilities. Depending on they damage that could be brought to these facilities. Both would mean the city could be without water for a year or two, damage to one, a 8 months to a quarter of the city.

 

Mayor:

Dear God, we have to stop them. Will you help us, Silver Knight.

 

     The Silver Knight then starts to walk out to the balcony.

 

Silver Knight:

Mr. Knight, created me to protect the innocent and vanquish evil. So you can count on my assistance!

 

     Silver Knight said, as he stood outside on the balcony, turning his head towards them. He then Flew off in the air and was gone.

 

Lydia:

Despite what he says, I'm not about to let him do the NYPD's job alone. I'm heading out to Catskill facility, Michael you head to the Delaware. Were getting water back to the city.

 

     She said, as Lydia heads out with Michael following. But then Michael stopped and turned towards the Mayor.

 

Michael:

Sir, there might also be a hidden player who could be helping in his own way though.

 

     He said to the Mayor, as he then left the room.

 

     Meanwhile outside the Delaware Facility, police units are setting a perimeter keeping the public away. At a nearby building on the roof  the DarkShadow is standing looking towards the Facility. He then heard a sound, turned and looked towards the sky and saw the Silver Knight, who landed on the roof he was on and looked at him. DarkShadow grabbed the handle of the Crimson Blood Sword, preparing to bring it out, but Silver Knight raised his hands.

 

Silver Knight:

Easy, I'm not here to fight you, I'm here to stop the Underground Citizens.

 

     DarkShadow at first stared, but the Silver Knight remained calm. He then let go of the handle and looked back at the Delaware Facility. Silver Knight then walked and stand right next to him.

 

Silver Knight:

So... wanna team up and stop these guys?

 

DarkShadow:

No!

 

      He said, rejecting Silver Knight offer of a team up. Silver Knight then just felt awkward.

 

Silver Knight:

Listen~

 

DarkShadow:

Shut up!

   

     DarkShadow said interrupting Silver Knight as he was speaking.

 

Silver Knight:

Look they are attacking not just the Delaware, but also the Catskill Facility as well. And not even you can take care of them both before time runs out.

 

     Silver Knight said, telling him of what the odds are and they he can't do it alone.

 

DarkShadow:

I know.

 

Silver Knight:

Yeah, you know~ wait... what!?

 

      He said being confused of the DarkShadow's words and what he meant by them.

 

DarkShadow:

I said I know. That's why while I take care of this Facility, you take care of the other one. First give me a scan of what's inside on what I could be expecting then go head to the Catskill Facility.

 

     Silver Knight was silent, could not believe what the DarkShadow was saying.

 

Silver Knight:

Uuuh. Wow... Um, great, glad we can~

 

DarkShadow:

Were not teaming up were both doing our own thing at separate places, now again shut up and scan!

 

Silver Knight:



 Oh right... sorry.

 

     Silver Knight then proceeded to scan the Delaware Facility and getting body heat signatures.

 

Silver Knight:

I'm reading about 76 life signs, 27 of them have heavy weaponry and~

 

     Silver Knight then pause as he was speaking and the DarkShadow turned his head and looked at him.

 

DarkShadow:

What?

 

Silver Knight:

They're planting explosive, I'm scanning them. Looks like they're remote detonators explosives.

 

DarkShadow:

Are there multiple detonators and who has them?

 

Silver Knight:

There is only one detonator. No doubt they're planting other explosives at the Catskill facility as well.

 

DarkShadow:

Alright... you head over to the Catskill facility, I'll take care if this one.

 

Silver Knight:

Hmm. Not a bad I idea, if we both attack together it doesn't matter if we take them down, the minute they are alerted to out presence they'll trigger the detonator and even we stop the explosives here the other facility will be destroyed. But if we both take one facility we have a better chance at saving the facilities.

 

DarkShadow:

So stop saying the obvious then and get going.

 

     DarkShadow said, Silver Knight then turned and walk away to head to the Catskill facility, but before he took off he turned towards DarkShadow again.

 

Silver Knight:

Hey, the Underground Prince is to be captured and turned to the police. He is the best link into getting the Underground King.

 

     He said, staring at DarkShadow's back, while he continues to look at the Delaware facility.

 

DarkShadow:

I know!

 

     He replied to the Silver Knight. Silver Knight then launch into the air and flew to the Catskill facility, leaving DarkShadow who then jump off the roof and proceeded to make his way to the facility.

 

     Meanwhile inside the Delaware facility, the Underground Citizens continue to plant explosives, also securing the hostages. The Underground Prince watched on top of a platform. Then one of them walked up to him.

 

Underground Citizens #1:

My Prince. The tenth explosive has been set.

 

Underground Prince:

Good, have the hostages been restrain has well.

 

Underground #1:

Yes... we have yet to receive any word about our demands.

 

Underground Prince:

Heh... of course we haven't, after all they never attended to meet them nor could they if they truly had to. After all evacuating an entire city in just 2 hours is impossible. Once I hear that the explosives have been set at the Catskill, we will execute the hostages and then make our way to escape. Once we have we trigger the explosives and the city will be without water. Infighting will begin for what water is left among the upper citizens and then when the dust settles, we claim what is ours.

 

Underground Citizens #1:

Yes! I will inform the rest of the men to be ready. We'll await your command.

 

     The Underground Citizen then left the Underground Prince and proceeded to walk down the stairs. As the Underground Citizen made it to the bottom floor, but he was attacked by the DarkShadow who silently killed him. He then search the Underground Citizen and found blueprint of the facility, showing the locations of where they were setting the explosives. DarkShadow proceeded to head to the location where the explosives were and began to defuse them, those that were being guard by Underground Citizens he swiftly and silently killed them, then went to defuse the explosives. As DarkShadow continue to stealthily move to where the explosives are, while also taking out any Underground Citizens the he comes across. He then notices the hostages that are being held by 3 Underground Citizens.

     Meanwhile Silver Knight  has arrived at the Catskill Facility hovering over it.

Silver Knight:

Squire! get me as for inside.

 

Squire:

Yes sir.

 

Silver Knight's visor on his helmet then began a scan of the building, detecting signatures of people.

 

Squire:

I am detecting 60 signatures within the building. 42 of them are workers of the facility, the 18 possess automatic weapons.

 

Silver Knight:

So, that's how many Underground Citizens there are.

 

Squire:

There's more sir, they are planting explosives in the building. If detonated~

 

Silver Knight:

Yeah, the city will lose half it's water source if this building explodes, and if both building are lost, the city will be without water for years. Squire run a scan on the explosives.

 

     Squire then ran a scan on the explosives that the Underground Citizens are planting.

 

Squire:

Sir, the explosives are remote detonated. They are all linked to a single remote that one of the Underground Citizens is holding.

Silver Knight:

If I just go in blasting, they'll pull the trigger in that moment and detonate the explosives. I need to come up with a plan to prevent that.

 

     Silver Knight pondered on what his move shall be in dealing with the Underground Citizens to save the building and the hostages. After a minute he thought of his plan.

 

Silver Knight:

Alright! Squire, get ready to launch on my signal.

 

Squire:

Yes, sir.

 

     Squire said, as the Silver Knight was preparing to make his move.

 

     Back at the Delaware Facility, the 3 Underground Citizens continued to guard the hostages.

 

Hostage #1:

Why are you doing this?

 

Underground Citizen #2:

Shut Up!

 

     He, said as he hit the hostage with his gun, making him fall to the floor. The Underground Citizen then kneeled down and grabbed his hair and lift his head up and point a gun at the hostage.

 

Underground Citizen #2:

You don't understand what are lives have been like. I use to work in a factory, good job, payed well. But then the factory was shut down, cause the owner was moving his business elsewhere. I couldn't find a more stable job since then, everything I owned was seized, I was on the streets, starving, cold, but then the Underground found me, gave me a life, I was happy. Then you people had to bring more of your problems, that should've been only your problems here on the surface, but you had to drag it upon us. Now you are going to pay, you don't deserve this city, were going to take it back.

 

Hostage #1:

This is insane, were just ordinary people, working we had nothing to do with~

 

     The Underground Citizens hit the hostage again with his gun and dropped him on the floor.

 

Underground Citizen #2:

Now I told you to shut the F**k up.

 

     He said, as he pointed his gun at the hostage preparing to shoot him. Then they heard a noise, he and the other two looked towards the noise was made and were facing into a dark hallway.

 

Underground Citizen #3:

What was that?

 

Underground Citizen #2:

I don't know? go check it out, it might be a stray worker still on the loose.

 

Underground Citizen #3:

Right!

 

     The Underground Citizen then proceeded to the dark hallway. Moments pass and he has not returned, making the other two anxious. One of them then walks to the hallway to take a look but sees no trace of the other.

 

Underground Citizen #4:

I don't see him.

 

     As he turned around his head was cut off, by the DarkShadow who was moving at him, he then turned into Dark Smoke and moved towards the remaining Underground Citizen, who was panicking and tried to fire his gun, but the smoke moved through him and DarkShadow reformed behind the Underground Citizen and had his chain wrapped around him. The Underground Citizen struggled to get free. DarkShadow channeled Dark Energy through his chain and also around the Underground Citizen, who begins to panic in fear. He then turns his head to the DarkShadow was wasn't looking back at him. He then pulls his chain and the Dark energy turned the Underground Citizen into dust. Everyone looked as the DarkShadow wrapped around  his left arm, he looked back at them, raised his hand and pointed to the hallway, hinting them to leave and they did.

 

     The Underground Prince heard noises and saw that the Hostages were escaping, his eyes widened in shock of what was happening.

 

Underground Prince:

What the Hell! How?

    

     He said, his eyes grew even wider as he turned and saw then DarkShadow was walking up to the platform he was on. DarkShadow was then facing the Underground Prince on the platform. The two just stared at each other intensely.

Underground Prince:

You! I expected you would come and try something. In fact I was greatly hoping for it.

 

     DarkShadow remained silent and looked at his right hand that was holding the detonator, which the Underground Prince noticed and raised his hand up at DarkShadow.

 

Underground Prince:

Like it huh. I have explosives all around this place all connected to this. one simple push... Boom! this city will be without water for a long time. But that doesn't interest you does it?

 

DarkShadow:

No!

 

Underground Prince:

I thought so. What your interested is just killing... My father I bet.

 

DarkShadow:

I go after the one that would bring a more interesting fight, and a desiring kill.

 

     The Underground Prince first remained silent and starred at the DarkShadow, then he began to smile and life hysterically.

 

Underground Prince:

Hahahahahaha hahaha haha! Haaaah! Well what about me... would I be a worthy kill.

 

DarkShadow:

No, you aren't!

 

     The Underground Prince then became a bit upset and then smiled again.

 

Underground Prince:

Really, I've taken both these facilities under my control, hostage lives are mine to take and if I push this button this city will lose water forever!

 

DarkShadow:

The hostages you have here are escaping, the other facility will soon be dealt with and as for everything that has lead to here. I know it was your plan, it was your father's and your nothing but daddy's errand boy.

 

      The DarkShadow's comment made the Underground Prince more upset.

 

Underground Prince:

I can still blow this place!

 

DarkShadow:

With you inside?

 

Underground Prince:

A glorious sacrifice to help save this city, plus I would take you with me!

 

DarkShadow: 

Sorry you inform you, but even an explosion that powerful wouldn't kill me.

 

Underground Prince:

Well let's see about that!

 

     As Underground Prince was preparing to push the detonator, he stopped and put the trigger in his pouch.

 

Underground Prince:

I'm the heir to my father's throne, and as a soon to be king I should show fairness. Let's have a match... you vs me, I win naturally you will be dead and this place becomes rumble, but if you win I give you the detonator and this place will be saved. So how about it?

 

DarkShadow:

You should just run home, you can't beat me!

 

Underground Prince:

I've been training to face any kind of enemy!

 

DarkShadow:

I'm not any kind of enemy

 

Underground Prince:

Let's find out!

    

     The Underground Prince took out his blade and sprint at the DarkShadow who just crossed his arms together. As the Underground Prince got close he striked at him, but the DarkShadow dodge his attack, but the Underground Prince striked again and again. The DarkShadow continued to dodge all of the Underground Prince's strikes from his blade. Then he grabbed the blade with both his hands and snapped it, then thrust kicked Underground Prince in the chest causing him to be pushed back. As the Underground Prince stood up he too out hand gun and started shooting at the DarkShadow, but he grabbed his sword and deflected the bullets, then jump off the platform and used his chain and grabbed the rail on the platform and swung across, up in the air, above the platform, behind the Underground Prince. The Underground Prince saw him and pointed his guns up to the air and fired at the DarkShadow, who continued to reflect the bullets. As DarkShadow was falling towards the Underground Prince, he swung his sword and sliced the guns, then landed and double kick the Underground prince, then jump spin thrust kick him in the face, making him collapse to the ground again. The DarkShadow re-sheath his sword and wrapped his chain around his right arm and proceed to stand above the Underground Prince.

 

DarkShadow:

I told you, I'm not like any enemy you were trained to fight. Give up, someone like you can't defeat me. You have no idea what I am!

 

     As the Underground Prince work to stand up, he reach for something in his pouch.

 

Underground Prince:

Actually I was told a great deal about you, that's why I was given something to give me an edge.

 

     As he said that he injected himself with a serum. His body began to feel pain and his muscles were shifting. As his started to rise up, he turned his head towards the DarkShadow. The DarkShadow saw his face as he looked angry. Then in a second, the Underground Prince turned and punched DarkShadow in the just. The impact was strong and send the DarkShadow flying across the platform. He felt immense pain from the punch, as he try to get up, he saw the Underground Prince in the air ready to attack again.  As DarkShadow try to move out of the way, Underground Prince was already too close and made an impact, causing the platform to break apart and collapse. With the platform destroyed, the DarkShadow crashed on the floor, as he started to get up, he was grabbed by the Underground Prince, who proceeded to lifted him and smash him to the ground and the equipment. The DarkShadow manage to break free, then attack the Underground Prince, by punching and kicking him. However his attacks had little effect on and the Underground Prince countered, as the two fought, landed blows at each other. Then DarkShadow and Underground Prince stood there ground and threw barrage of punches that collided with each other. As they both continued throwing there punches, Underground Prince took the moment and block one of DarkShadow's, then grabbed his arm and pinned him to a wall.

 

Underground Prince:

You think you saved this city, in moment my men at the Catskill will know something is wrong and will blow that facility and half this city will lose it's water. That will still cause the people to go in a panic and kill each other for the water that remain.

 

DarkShadow:

That's why I have someone to take car of it.

 

     DarkShadow said to the Underground Prince talking about the Silver Knight who is there..

 

Meanwhile at the Catskill facility, the Underground  Citizens are waiting.

 

Underground Citizen #5:

Why hasn't the Prince contacted us?

 

Underground Citizen #6:

I don't know... tell the men to get ready to leave. If we don't hear in 2 minute, we evacuate and then blow this place.

 

     In that moment, the Silver Knight came crashing from the glass ceiling. He then landed near the Underground Citizens, as they shit at him, he fired back with an energy blast and took them down. Silver Knight then freed the hostages, who began to escape. While the remaining Underground Citizens converge on Silver Knight, who hovered in the air. They began shooting at him, but the bullets reflected back, then he energy blasted them. Silver Knight then landed near group of Underground Citizens who took there gun and attack him, but the Silver Knight fought back and took them down, with his armor strength.

 

Underground Citizen #6:

STOP!!

 

     The Silver Knight then stopped attacking and look and saw the Underground Citizen who had his arm raised up in the air with the detonator in the hand.

 

Underground Citizen #6:

Now! We are going to leave and if you follow I will blow this place.

 

     The Silver Knight then proceeded to walk towards the Underground Citizen.

 

Underground Citizen #6:

Stop, I said stop! I'll blow this place up, I'll kill us all!

 

     The Silver Knight continued walking towards the Underground Citizen, making him nervous as he grew closer. As he got closer the Underground Citizen panic and pushed the button. However nothing happened the bombs didn't go off. As the Underground Citizen continued pushing the button, but nothing happened making more confused.

 

Silver Knight:

Yeah, that's not going to work.

 

Underground Citizen #6:

What do you mean?

 

Silver Knight:

The minute I entered here I triggered a EMP, specific targeting the connection to that detonator to the explosives, disabling it and making it useless. So no boom!

 

     The Underground Citizen dropped the detonator and grabbed a hand gun and pointed at the Silver Knight. The Silver Knight grabbed the gun, which the Underground Citizen to fire in the Silver Knights hand, but his armor protected him. The Silver Knight then crushed the gun, then spinned elbow hit him in the face, then lifted the Underground Citizen in the air and smashed him to the ground.

 

Silver Knight:

Lieutenant Lydia, this is the Silver Knight. The Catskill Facility is secure and the hostages are heading out.

 

     Meanwhile, back at the Delaware  Facility, the DarkShadow is continuing his fight with the Underground Prince. The DarkShadow then grabbed his chain and started whipping the Underground Prince a few times, then grabbed him by the neck and jumped towards the Underground Prince. Once he was close, DarkShadow punch and knee kicked the Underground Prince hard, creating bruises and blood to come out of his nose and mouth. The Underground Prince blocked one of his knee kicks and counter, causing the DarkShadow to lose focus and then breaking the chain around his neck and fight back. As the Underground Prince relentlessly attacked the DarkShadow and he fought back as well, each landed powerful blows. Then each pulled there fist back ready to strike a powerful blow, The Underground Prince griped his fist tightly and the two striked. The Underground Prince punched the DarkShadow in the face and he punched the Underground Prince in the chest. However the Underground Prince began to cough up more blood, and he looked and saw that the DarkShadow fist had transformed into a demon arm and emitted Dark Energy. The Underground Prince fell to his knees and the DarkShadow look down on him with his arm returning to normal. Then the Underground Prince looked up to the DarkShadow continuing coughing up blood.

 

Underground Prince:

M-m-my (Cough, cough, cough) My Father... (Cough). Will.. come.. for.. you!

 

     The DarkShadow continued to looked down on him and then reached for his sword.

 

DarkShadow:

I'm Counting on it!

 

     He said, as he then executed the Underground Prince by cutting of hid head with his sword.
