The DarkShadow Vol. 2 #5: Betrayer, Deceiver, Abandoner, Stealer, and Monster

     Deep in New York Underground, the Underground Citizens have gathered around the Underground King, awaiting for him to speak.

Underground King:

My Citizens, my people. We have been the outcast of society in upper world of this City. We lived in this city, in hopes of fulfilling our dreams... of building something great, but we were betrayed, by those we trusted, those we believed in and those we loved. We were then thrown out to the streets, tossed into the darkness, abandoned. But hope did not abandoned us, we were saved and brought here to begin anew. Together we build our own society, free from, crime, free from all the problems that the upper world has, we had created a place of peace. But the sins of those who cast us out have once again brought devastation to us, brought us more grief and loss, but through it... a revelation. We can no longer just hide down here. This city needs saving, by it's "True" Citizens and that is what we will do, we will save New York from those who bring it destruction. Our efforts have proven with great results, they know that we serious, that we are not to be taken likely... they know that there leaders cannot do anything to stop us and protect them. Though we have caught the eye of "One" who is dangerous, I show no fear! I, WE will wage our WAR and save New York and reclaim it as it's "True" Citizens!

 

     The Underground Citizens, applaud and cheered for the Underground King, and he watched and bask in it.

 

Underground King:

It's time, to make those who cast us out to pay for there sins!

 

     Later on, above the city the Underground Citizens started targeting and killing multiple individuals around the city and marking them with words like (Betrayer, Deceiver, Abandoner, Stealer, and Monster).

 

Underground King:

The one's that were killed were people who cast "Us" out into the streets, ruining "Our" lives and this is only the beginning. There are many who have brought torment to "Us" and "We" will take our justice. And we will not stop, once "We" take our justice "We" will claim this city as ours once and for all. My only suggestion for you all... is to leave "Our" city!

 

      Matt was then shown in the T.V. News Studio, that was showing the Underground King's message to the city.

 

Matt:

That was the Underground King's message to the city, already the Underground Citizens have been responsible for the death's of 14 New York Citizens and marking them with these words.

 

     showing the words on a side screen.

 

Matt:

It is yet unknown of what was their involvement with the Underground Citizens was, but the words that they were branded with indicates the reason they were targeted. Lieutenant Lydia had this to say.

 

     The screen then rolls footage of Lieutenant Lydia at a press conference.

 

Lydia:

These attacks are well planned out and move on their targets carefully. That is why we are asking all citizens who believe they might know someone within the Underground Citizens to come to the NYPD Department and tell us what you know. We are also advising that everyone be more cautious and remain indoors after dark or not to be alone.

 

     The screen then turns back to Matt.

 

Matt 

Also, it is to believe that these resent activities from the Underground Citizens are the cause of the DarkShadow after threatening the life of the Underground King. His involvement will only lead to more trouble. People are dying and he hasn't done a thing to prevent it. He is putting the lives of more people again and he should just back off!

 

     Later that night a limousine being escorted by to armored cars, one up front and one from the back are driving along through New York. Inside the limo a man is speaking on the phone and there are 4 guards sitting inside as well.

 

Man:

Well then shut down the hole department... I don't care how many will lose there job, if they're not making me money then they are of no use. Shut it Down!

 

     The man then hangs up the phone. As the limo continues driving, it stops at a red light. Then as the light turn green they started moving again. But as they started to make a turn, the first car was hit by an oncoming vehicle, then the car behind was also hit. 4 men started from each of the cars to get out of the cars and wielded guns. They slowly approached the vehicles that attacked them and saw men in the driver seats. The drivers from the attacking cars showed them a detonator on their hands.

 

Drivers:

For The Underground!

 

     They said, soon the men started to fall back, away from the vehicles, as the drivers then pushed the buttons on the detonators and both vehicles exploded, resulting in 3 men being killed in the processes. as the rest started to recover from the explosions, one of them was shot and killing by a man coming towards them wielding a machine gun.  As the man pointed his gun at the others, they reacted and killed him, but saw 7 more coming at them and firing. The rest soon took cover and guarded the limo.

 

Guard:

We need back up.

 

      One of them said on his wrist communicator. Inside the limo 3 of the guards came out and joined the shoot out, while one remained to guard their employer. As the shoot out continue many civilian casualties were taken and 3 more guards were killed. As the rest continued to give a good fight taking a few of the attackers down, but more started popping up and soon the rest of the guards were killed. Inside the limo both the man and the guard heard the silent, no more gun sounds.

 

Man:

W-w-what's going on?

 

Guard #2:

Remain calm sir. And stay L-

 

     Before the guard could finish speaking he was shot in the head. As the guards blood covered the man, the door to the limo open and the man saw the attackers coming at him and dragged him outside, where he brought to his knees and saw the rest of his guards killed. The man then saw one of the attackers standing in front of him.

 

Man:

Please... I'll give you anything!

 

Underground Citizen #1:

Your greed, took everything from me!

 

     He said as he then shot the man in the head killing him. As the man laid down in the floor, the attacker went and wrote (Greedy) on the man's shirt. Then he and the rest started to move out as they soon heard police sirens coming their way.

 

     The Undergrounds Citizens made it to an ally and open the sewer hole in the area and entered the sewers. Unbeknownst to them, they were being tailed by the DarkShadow, who followed them in the sewer.

 

     Inside the sewers, the DarkShadow kept his distance from the Underground Citizens. As he continued to follow them, he stopped and dodged an attack by one of the Underground Citizens and killing him by snapping his neck. The rest of the Underground Citizens noticed him and started to shoot him. DarkShadow then ran and they pursued him. As the Underground Citizens pursued DarkShadow they lost him, they then scattered to find him.

 

Underground Citizen #2:

You though we wouldn't notice you we had men keep an eye out in case we were followed and they informed us of you. So we were hoping to catch you off guard... but! 

 

      As he said, as they all continued searching for DarkShadow, but unbeknownst to them he is watching them.

 

Underground Citizen #1:

Your on the wrong side here. They are the one's who are the enemy. We are merely taking back what was stolen from us!

 

     He said, but then he was grabbed by the neck by a chain and hoisted up and DarkShadow falling down and killed him with the Crimson Blood Sword. The other Underground Citizens went and saw then DarkShadow kneeling on the floor with his sword in his right and hand his chain in his left. DarkShadow then looked towards them and rised up, standing.

 

DarkShadow:

I don't care what you lost. People lose something everyday. My only desire is to kill and your King is the one I want to kill!

 

     As the remaining Underground Citizens start shooting at DarkShadow, he ran's towards and kills them all with his sword and chain, until there was one left, who tried to run, but DarkShadow turned into dark smoke and reappeared before the Underground Citizens. The Underground Citizens then try to run in a different direction, but DarkShadow appeared before him again. He then tried to shoot DarkShadow, but DarkShadow sliced the gun with his sword then wrapped his chain around the Underground Citizen. Once the Underground Citizen was caught, DarkShadow started tightening his chain around the Underground Citizen, squeezing his arms and chest. DarkShadow then lean closer towards the Underground Citizen.

 

DarkShadow: 

Now tell me where the Underground King is?

 

Underground Citizens #3:

I... Would Die... before betraying... M-my King!

 

DarkShadow:

Fine!

 

     DarkShadow then embedded dark energy through his chain, which caused the Underground Citizens to scream in pain. Then DarkShadow pulled his chain filled with dark energy and killed the Underground Citizens by turning him into dark ash. DarkShadow then wrapped his chain around his right arm again and place his sword in it's sheath on his back. He then went and examine the bodies of the dead Underground Citizens. As he searched through the bodies he found a piece of paper on one of them, which had writing on it "Attack on welcoming CEO of Knight International". As he place the paper in his pocket and stood up, DarkShadow heard a noise and was attacked from behind that pushed his, crashing into a wall. DarkShadow then stood up and saw a man standing there.

 

Man #2:

You dare stand in the way in saving this city. Then you will be crushed by the rubble.

 

     The man then raised his hands then vibrations started coming though his hands. The area around them started to shake, as the ceiling, walls and ground to crack. DarkShadow attempted to charge at him, but the man used his powers and pushed DarkShadow back to the wall pinning him. As the area continued to shake and crack, it soon started to crumble and DarkShadow was then buried into the rubble. The man then left.

 

     In another area in the Undergrounds of New York then man kneeled as he was meeting with the Underground King who stared at him.

 

Underground King:

Is it done?

 

Man #2:

Yes. The DarkShadow is buried, but we loss more of our people and I suspect he won't stay buried for long!

 

Underground King:

Necessary losses if we are to achieve our goal and I agree. The DarkShadow has survived worse from what I have been told. But it matters not, we will not be stop... he cannot stop us. We must prepare for our visitor that is coming. GroundShaker be ready!

 

GroundShaker:

Yes, my King.

 

     Meanwhile back at where DarkShadow was buried, DarkShadow's hand came out of the rubble and then the rest of him came out from the rubble. As DarkShadow stood up and shook off the dust and pebbles. He then cracked his neck and took out the piece of paper and stared at one word.

 

DarkShadow:

... Knight!

 

     DarkShadow then made his way back to the surface of New York.
