The DarkShadow #10: The Story To Die For

Ifrit's voice:    

"It was 3 years ago, I was working at MIDAS Corporation. I once went by the name of Dr. Bruno Angus, and I was seeking to strengthening humanity and rid this world of disease."

Three Years ago
      At the MIDAS Corporation in a lab Dr. Angus is working with chemicals, mixing them together and testing their effects. Through his test the chemicals emitted a flame process. He then examines the testing on a magnifying glass, he first place a blood sample on the base, then administer the chemical. He then looked through the scope and saw viruses in the blood, then saw his chemical interacting, the chemical started to burned the virus, but the effect did not last long and failed.

Dr. Angus:

Dammit! Still not strong enough.

 

Voice:

Another failed attempt.

 

     Dr. Angus looked at who was talking and saw a man coming into the lab towards him.

 

Dr. Angus:

Director Philip, what a surprise. I was not expecting you.

 

       He said to the Director as he then stand right next to him. The Director then took a glance at his table and at his failed experiment.

 

Director Philip:

Any real progressed in your theory, Dr. Angus?

 

Dr. Angus:

Success of testing #1 was only 3%, testing #2 12%, #3 29.8%, and this one 40%. Each day I get closer and closer, I know that I can created a stable fire vaccine to distinguish any diseases, millions in the process. I just need time.

 

Director Philip:

However, your experiments are wasting a good deal of money, and your results are slow. Mr. Midas is growing displease with how your progressing. But he thinks he's found a solution that will benefit all.

 

Dr. Angus:

What do you mean.

 

Director Philip:

Mr. Midas has looked over your work and he believes that you little vaccine can be weaponized for military use.

 

Dr. Angus:

WHAT! You wanted to turn my research which is meant to be a cure and turn it into a virus. Forget I am the head scientist here and I will not have my life's work be poisoned by your corporate dogs. Now Leave!

 

     Director Philip soon left and Dr. Angus returned to his work.

 

     The next day Dr. Angus was proceeding to enter his lab but he is stopped by a security guard.

 

Security Guard:

I'm sorry sir, I can't let you in.

 

Dr. Angus:

What do you mean. This is my lab.

 

Security guard:

I'm sorry, but your clearance has been revoke by order of Director Philip's.

 

     Dr. Angus then stormed into Director Philip's office and speed walked towards him.

 

Dr. Angus:

How dare you shut me out of my own lab.

 

      He said as he then stand next to Director Philip's desk and slammed his hands on it.

 

Director Philip:

It's not your lab anymore, you've been revoked or in other case fired.

 

Dr. Angus:

You can't do that. You can't fire me simply because I won't go along with your and Mr. Midas plans for my work.

 

     Director Philip then stood up and started to walk towards Dr. Angus.

 

Director Philip:

But that's not the reason. personal use of company equipment is against the rules of your contract.

 

Dr. Angus:

What are you talking about?

 

Director Philip:

We know that you have cancer and you have been using company recourses to find yourself a cure and planning to sell it on your own accords.

 

     Director Philip said to Dr. Angus standing next to him and presented him a file, containing all the information on him. Dr. Angus was silent and did not say a word.

 

Director Philip:

You are to leave the premises of this company, your work will be seize and owing for your conducts.

 

Dr. Angus:

WHAT! YOU CAN"T DO THAT! I need my work, it's my only hope.

 

     Dr. Angus said in a panic and grabbed Director Philip's shoulders, but he pushed him away.

 

Director Philip:

Enough! it is already done now leave.

 

     He said to Dr. Angus as he walked away and Dr. Angus just stood there starring blankly, then became anger and left.

 

     Back inside the lab, a women is looking at the equipment and at Dr. Angus notes. She then heard the door opening, looked and saw Dr. Angus coming right at her after he knocked the guard out, then knocked her out. He then proceeded to go to his chemicals and started mixing them all together creating a new formula. After he was done, he injected himself with the formula and waited. At first he felt normal, no side effect. He then took a sample of his blood and looked through it through a microscope. Dr. Angus saw the cancer cells in his blood starting to extinguished from the vaccine. He the left his head up and felt relieve, but then he was attack by 3 other guards accompany by Director Philip.

 

Director Philip:

You truly must have been desperate for pulling a stunt like this. Finish him.

 

     He said as the guards started attacking Dr. Angus, as he felt the pain from the attacks, he also felt a burning sensation within him. he began to feel hotter and hotter and the blood he was examining also began to have a burning side effect. Dr. Angus skin stated to turn red, the guards notice this and back off and then notice the knuckles from their hands were burned. Dr. Angus the rised up and started grabbing the guards burning them to death, then proceeded towards Director Philip who was attempting to escape but was too late and was grabbed and set on fire by Dr. Angus. The fire spread throughout the lab and triggered and explosion.

 

     After the explosion, the police, paramedics, and fire departments were at MIDAS Corporation and worked to contain the fire and evacuate everyone. Dr. Angus who survive the explosion manage to slip through without being notice and headed towards the alleys.

2 weeks later
     Dr. Angus who's skin is still red, wearing a cloak with a hood to conceal himself, is going through a garbage can from a restaurant, digging out left over food and eating it. Soon someone walked out from the door and saw him.



 Man:

HEY! Get out of here.

 

     The man said to Dr. Angus, as he then ran away while the man stood and watch.

 

     Dr. Angus made it back to the ally's, there he heard a scream and went to take a look. There he saw a young couple being attack by 3 thugs.

 

Thug #1:

Hey buddy, we interrupting your date, sorry but we want our money you owe.

 

Boyfriend:

Please, I don't have the money right now, but I'll get it.

 

     Then one of the thugs pulled him away and put a knife towards his neck while the other grabbed his girlfriend.

 

Thug #2:

Were tired of waiting, so here's the deal. We can either kill you or we take your girl and call it dept. paid.

 

     The boyfriend looked at his girlfriend and saw how terrified she was then back at the thug who pressed his knife a little deeper to his neck and the boyfriend panic.

 

Boyfriend:

ALRIGHT! Alright, you can have her!

 

Girlfriend:

WHAT!

 

     She said, couldn't believe that he gave her up. The thug then let him and he and other proceeded towards the girlfriend.

 

Boyfriend:

... Sorry.

 

     He said to her as she was about to be rape and proceeded to leave but was block by Ifrit who grabbed him.

 

Boyfriend:

What's going on, we had a deal.

 

     He said as he looked towards the thugs.

 

Thug #1:

He ain't with us man.

 

     The Boyfriend then saw his red skin under his hood and panic again.

 

Dr. Angus:

So weak, so pathetic, cowering, you are a disease.

 

      Dr. Angus told the boyfriend as he then lit him on fire and killed him. The thugs shocked at what happen, gave the girl the chance to escape and head towards Dr. Angus.

 

Girlfriends:

Thank you.

 

     Dr. Angus then looked towards the girl and place his hand on her face.

 

Dr. Angus:

You... you are also weak. being with a fool like that. It is because your are weak willed.

 

     He said to her as he then burned her to death as well. He then looked towards the thugs who were frozen in fear.

 

Dr. Angus:

You are what society has represented as scum, trash a disease upon the world. But it is your true nature, and it has made you strong. You've seen what I can do, your are afraid, but instead of running, here you stand, and it is because your are strong. Those who cowered in fear run, because they are weak and they must be cleanse.

 

     Dr. Angus said to them as he smiled upon his realization.

 

Present

     Back at David's apartment, where he his sitting back on his chair looking at Ifrit standing in front of him, finished with his story.

 

David:

Quite the past.

 

Ifrit:

Yes... since then I worked to fulfil my purpose... curing.

 

David:

By creating a street gang of criminals.

 

Ifrit:

A means to an end, necessary for what must come to past. The Hellfire Gang was created to help pursue my work, but it is so much more, it is to find those you are strong and what to be strong and take place into creating something better, to move past the weakness of humanity and become a greater being. I gave myself the name Ifrit, as I have transcended to being a stronger being. And Ifrit's role in life is too distinguish monster, to me weakness of man is the monster. So I will cleanse this city, with fire.

 

David:

What do you mean?

 

Ifrit:

I have created a chemical when introduced to water it will turn it into fire and I will expose it in the sewers that spread throughout New York. The fire with ignite all threw the city engulfing everywhere, cleansing the city.

 

David:

It will kill thousands.

 

Ifrit:

Ah, yes, but there will be survivor, because they are strong, they will live and be granted the fire that I will bestowed upon them, and we all will rebuild this city into one that is stronger!

 

      David was silent and just starred at Ifrit after hearing his plan.

 

David:

I think your insane.

 

     Ifrit then turned around and walked a few steps back away from David.

 

Ifrit:

Yes... perhaps you are right, but I have come to far to be stopped by some reporter or a foolish Dark Vigilante.

 

David:

How does the DarkShadow fit in to all of this?

 

      David ask Ifrit wanting to know how that DarkShadow is involved and why did he involved himself.

 

Ifrit:

He said, he is merely involving himself with the desire to kill me, which is odd. For a moment I thought he was sent by them.

 

David:

Them?

 

Ifrit:

Which is impossible, after all we have an accord.

 

David:

Who is them?

 

Ifrit:

I'm sorry, but that will be a bit hard to explain to you. Besides... you know what is about to happen now. Don't you?

 

     David then stood up from his chair and looked at Ifrit.

 

David:

I've been a reporter for a long time, I read between the lines, I see, I know. Yes I know what's going to happen.

 

Ifrit:

Such a shame, I really enjoyed your stories and I have given you one of your best.

 

David:

Eh.. I wouldn't go that far.

 

     David said to Ifrit, disagreeing with him, that the story of his origins was not the best one he's gotten so far.

 

Ifrit:

Really. Well at least you will be mention of the block coming on fire.

 

     Ifrit said to David as he turned around showing David forming around his hand. Ifrit then unleashed his fire on David burning him to death, then lit the room on fire. Ifrit then step out of the apartment and unleashed a stream of fire from his hand that burst though a door of another apartment room lighting it up, then ignited the hole hallway.

 

     Ifrit then was outside from the condo building that was catching on fire. He looked at another building and unleashed fire on it. People who saw panic and run. Ifrit began igniting more building on fire, as well as cars that were park or driving by. Soon the hole block was on fire and explosion started all over the place, many people were trapped and got caught in the flames. Ifrit looked around at his worked and laughed then raised his hand and fire started to spew from them.

 

Ifrit:

THE FIRE WILL CLEANSE NEW YORK! HAHAHAHAHA!

 

     At a far off distance on the roof of a building, the DarkShadow saw the light from the flames of the block that Ifrit was destroying.
