Marauder Episode 6

Armed with a new base and tech, Casey hasnt felt more ready to take on the Red Serpents. He meets a potential new friend.

Casey decided he needed a break from everything. The Red Serpents, Marauder, Steel Monger. After all, they had no idea what his true identity was and even if they did, he would remain a ghost. They would discover Casey Adams is dead, but the Maurader is alive and well.

That night, Casey heads into town for a much needed drink. He finds a bar called Red Tavern and heads in. Taking a seat at the head. "Scotch on the rocks, barkeep." He slipped him a 20 dollar bill. "Keep the change."

Casey enjoyed the sting of the scotch as it helped take away everything that had happened in the past few weeks.

"Havent seen you around here before stranger." A lady who took a seat next to him said coyloy. She was a beautiful blonde, with sparkling blue eyes. She wore a leather jacket and jeans.

"How would you know? I havent seen you around here either, but then again Ive never been."

"Touché, stranger, but Im a regular. The usual Mike."

"Im Casey. Casey Adams." He said to her.
"Kelsy Raymond."

"Youre that reporter, right? I read that story about the earthquake. Crazy stuff."

"Very. I have a feeling it has to do with something much larger. If its a terrorist attack, thats the last thing Vegas needs right now." If only she knew. "Im going to do everything I can to find out what I can about it."

"Trust me you dont."

Kelsy felt a small flame in her ignite, a soon to be burning deisre to find out what this man knew about that small earthquake. After he paid for his drink, she got his attention.

"What do you know?" She looked him in the eyes. "I cant explain it but I can tell theres something in you that wants to fight for good. Please, lives could be at stake."

Casey hesitated and paused for a moment, but realized he could trust this woman. Who knows, maybe he could help her and she could help him.

"Heres my number. Call me in one hour and Ill tell you everything you need to know."

Casey left the bar without anymore hesitation. Something about her grounded him, and he felt like she was doing the right thing.

Back at Opus, preparations were being made for their combined army. Any Red Serpent members had been labled 'ORS', meaning Opus Red Serpent followed by a designated number. Thaddeus and Scythe were overseeing everything.

"Im glad we made this desicion, Thaddeus. Soon the entire city followed by the rest of the world will be ours." Scythe said darkly.

"Couldnt agree more Scythe. I wanted to know, why did you change the project name?"

"Lotus felt too soft. Rebirth felt more fitting. After all, we're going to turn everything into our image, and relinquish this world of its weak."

Thaddeus nodded, then he and Scythe observed the rest of the preparations. Things were going according to plan.

Kelsy did not wait a minute to answer the call from Casey. He gave her the location where they would meet and the said location ended up being just a park bench.

"Why out in the open?" The blonde said, joining Casey.

"After what I tell you, that will be the least of your worries."

Casey then told Kelsy about his time with the Martyrs, and how he became the Maurader. He was a bit amused at her fascial expressions during each story. Now that his secret was out, he wondered where she would go from here with it.

"So you're the Marauder? There's only been rumors about you, but I knew you existed."

"I can trust that you'll just keep it at rumors?"

"Of course. This would put you in jail if the authorities knew. So what about the Red Serpents and these soldiers?"

"Ive only had a few encounters with them. A few weeks ago I stopped them from stealing a shipment of gems. Then a few weeks later their attack dog Steel Monger shows up. If you ever come face to face with him, do not engage. Hes extremely dangerous. He dropped nearly a thousand tons of rock on me the other day." He explained.

"So you were involved with the Earthquake. But you didnt cause it. Steel Monger did?"

Casey nodded. "He had this crazy hammer that completely destroyed my lab amd base. If it hadnt been for my dark energy and strength I wouldve been dead."

"I assume you have a new base. In a safer location? Where?"

"Thats something I cant tell you. I cant have location of it out."

"I see." She understood. "One more thing, how are you able to pay for all the stuff in the base."

"Most of the time its from scrap Ill find. The time I spent with the Martyrs also had me well paid."

"Ive got to go. It was good to meet you Kelsy, see you around."

Kelsy said goodbye then watched Casey vanish into the night. What an interesting background. She really wanted to help him but it didnt seem right. Not right now anyways. Time will tell when the Marauder needed assistance.

Casey felt like he had made a mistake. Was lying to Kelsy the best thing to do? He left one critical detail from his origin: he killed every member of the Martyrs in cold blood, not regretting a thing. In fact, he rather enjoyed it. Ever since he relocated to Vegas he had changed. He didnt want to be a cold hearted murderer anymore. How would Kelsy react if she knew the truth?
