Marauder Episode 7

Opus and the Red Serpents prepare for their attack on Vegas after final preparations. Casey perfects his armor. Kelsy learns of the Red Serpents. A mystery character appears.

After her meeting with Casey, Kelsy felt she had to confess a secret of her own. But was it the right time? Did she really want to disclose this information? In her office, she was looking through a file Casey had sent her on the Red Serpents. The files spared no detail, as Casey made them himself. There were photographs of Stinger and Crescent, Thaddeus' best men. On the sides of their uniforms was their logo, a black circle with two identicle red snakes.

She discovered they were the ones who caused the bombing at Vegas Tech, and left with something. But what? For themselves or someone else? For what purpose? Whos funding them? Questions like these raced through her mind.

Back at Opus, the Red Serpents and Opus soldiers were getting some enhancements. Steel Monger, Crescent, and Stinger stood aside Thaddeus, and their soldiers uniformly. Master Scythe stood in the center with a row of Opus soldiers. The Opus soldiers had already gotten the life force upgrade, dramatically increasing their strength and stamina. The Red Serpents got the same.

"Red Serpents and my soldiers, the time has come to put phase one of our plan into action." He announced. "In two days, we will spread pandemonium all over Vegas and make the city ours. We will burn this city to ash and with the Rebirth device, rebuild it in our image. Then, for phase 2, we will expand the rebirth across the country and eventually the entire world. Phase 3 will be rebuilding the rest of the world. Kill anyone who opposes us. Long live Opus!"

After Scythe finished his speech, the Red Serpents and Opus Soldiers chanted those same words. They werent aware of the mysterious figure hiding in the shadows of a rooftop a few miles away, taking video footage of the gathering. The figure cracked a smile and moonlight glistened in his glasses.

Casey was finishing up his armor when all of his computers crashed and a typing cursor had appeared. His systems never fail, and this was custom built tech with custom made programs. Whoever was doing this had to be really good. The hacker started typing.

"Casey Adams. I know who you are." It read. "Type your response."

"So, you hacked into my system and somehow know my name. You're good, Ill give you that." Casey replied.

"I dont think you understand me. I know who YOU are. I also know about the impending attack from Opus. You cant do this alone. There is a threat coming."
"You know Im the Marauder. How?"

"Lets just say I can figure out stuff that the average person cant. And Ive been watching you for quite some time, but I havent figured out where your new base is."

"A bit creepy, but impressive. I want to keep it that way. For now. When can we meet?"

"Ive been ghost for a long time now and I have no intention of giving out my location either. In a day or two, ill send you the coordinates of where to meet. Look for a golden plus symbol, but more like a star."

"Ill be there. Who are you?"

"Call me Oz. For the cities sake, I hope you accept my offer. As long as the Red Serpents and Opus are alive, nobodys safe."

And with that, the operating system came back online, leaving Casey puzzled and hopeful at the same time. This Oz person seems very mysterious, and Casey needed to proceed with caution. But with the coming attack, he could take all the help he could get.

"Captain Dawes, can we meet?" Casey said through a voice modulator through his phone.

"This better be important. I'm just getting off."

A little while later, the Marauder met Captain Dawes on a rooftop.

"You're armor is impressive, Ill have to give you that." He said, eyeing its construction. He wished he could get some copies for the force.

"I need you to level with me, Captain. Do you remember the Red Serpents?"

"Yeah," he frowned. "They've been off the grid lately. What about them?"

"There's a reason for that. They've joined forces with a shadow organization called Opus. They're planning an attack."

"How do you know this?" The captain said, a slight hint of concern in his voice.

"I've had a run in with their soldiers. These men are extremely dangerous, Captain, and they overtook me. They will most likely murder everyone on your force if they get the chance. When the attack comes, its best if you lay low."

The Captain laughed. "You cant be serious. If anything, I should be arresting you for working outside the law but you've been a big help for the city and no one would be able to apprehend you."

"Its your call, Captain, but you're going to need all the help you can get. These people don't play around. If you decide to engage, call for a drone. Its our best defense against them."
"Look, I dont know what you take me for, but if what youre saying is true, I need time for. the force to prepare."

Casey thought a moment. "When the attack happens, dont say I didnt warn you. Be on high alert Captain."

With that, the Marauder vanished into the dark of the night, leaving Captain Dawes on the roof with a choice. Does he engage the said attack or lay low?

As the Marauder headed back to his base, he felt like he was being watched. He had the computer in his heads up display scan a 5 block radius of his area. Nothing popped up. He shrugged it off.

In the distance, a person, not an ordinary person, was taking photographs. He had specialized glasses he had designed himself, that would put any modern smart device to shame. He disguised himself amongst the masses to not stand out. He knew that the Marauder would need his help eventually.

Casey felt his phone vibrate. The number was unknown. Of course it was.

"Look, whoever you are, you dont want to be messing me. My personal software is tracing this call right now."

"I know who you are, Marauder." The voice was modulated on the other end.

Casey froze for a moment, but then regained composure. He decided he would hear this person out. He may be useful if he really did know who he was.

"Casey Adams. Ex military, the Martyrs, killed them all in cold blood."

"So you know who I am, and about my past. What are you getting at here and you mustve done some extensive research. But that sort of information is classified. How did you get it?"

"I have my sources. Lets face it; you and I both know what's about to happen." The voice responded.

"So you know of the Red Serpents and Opus."

Casey could not let this opportunity pass. If this man does know of a weak spot, he would need to know full disclosure. Maybe he really could be a potential ally, and hearing that the Red Serpents and Opus have teamed up, he would need a team of his own.

"Alright, lets meet." He decided. "When and where, and who are you?"

"Call me Oz. The group plans on attacking tomorrow at 10. When a better time to cause chaos then at night? Ill send you the details in a minute."

Casey needed to prepare himself and the city for the imminent attack. He decided he would set traps in certain locations, if he was correct on the Red Serpents tactics. It wad going to be a long night.
