The DarkSadow Vol. 2 #13: Too Far

Taking place after the bus explosion, fire and rescue work to stop the fire, keep people away and try to find survivors.

Stacy Morgan:

This is Stacy Morgan I am at the scene where an hour ago a school bus exploded. I have not been given any details on what was the cause of the explosion but I am informed that all aboard were pronounced dead on site. One can only wonder if this was the work of the Underground Citizens. Back to you, Matt!

 

Matt:

Thank you, Stacy. I can only say that this cities support goes to the families of those children. People things are now completely out of hand are children are now being targeted and the blame goes to the DarkShadow. After killing the Underground King's son, he is now looking to make us pay, the Underground Citizens had their targets, but they never took the lives of children. And what is the Police force doing, what is the Mayor doing... NOTHING! And this Silver Knight where, how is he helping in putting an end to this war were in, all that money put into building him and they didn't put in a scanner in him. lives are endanger and nothing is being done!

 

     A screen is then turn to the explosion area, where fire department is putting out the fire, the police are holding back anger citizens and also pulling out remains of the deceased. Then the screen starts to go static, then blank and then the Underground King is shown. 

 

Underground King:

Time and time again... We have giving the opportunity to return this city to us and leave... But no, you refuse us, because you refuse to see that you are the poison of this city. Since this War began we have always been lenient on how far we were willing to go, to reclaim this city. Only going after those who are responsible for what we lost and driving us underground... but we let the children be, as they have no blood on their hands, but no more! If their parents are unwilling to own up to their crimes... then the children will face the punishment. This attack was but the first! Many more of your children will now feel our wrath and it will be our children that shall deliver the penalty of their parents crimes. Our children are willing to fight for this city... are you willing for your children to pay for it!? 

The screen turns blank and the Mayor is sitting behind a desk, with Lydia and Michael in the same room.

 

Michael:

Sir! We need to get on this before things get anymore out of control!

 

Mayor:

Out of control... Out of control... IT'S GONE WAY PASS OUT OF CONTROL! THE INTIRE CITY IS IN A UP ROAR!

 

Michael:

I understand sir! And believe me we are doing everything we can to prevent this from happening again!

 

Mayor:

How!!! Have the police search every child that walk around the streets, stores, schools and parks! Even if you did, you don't have the man power for that. The police are still greatly short staff after the Hellfire Gang attack and with this latest attack against City Hall and a NYPD building, were in greater chaos!

 

     Both Michael and Lydia remained quiet, while the Mayor just sat and rubbed his forehead.

 

Mayor:

We have no choice, I'm going to announce that all citizens should consider evacuating the city.

 

Lydia:

I'm not too sure that could be the best solution!

 

Mayor:

What difference would it make if I do or don't, already people have left the city to get away from the chaos! Once the people have left, we can enact Marshal Law and finally put an end to this!

 

Lydia:

That could turn New York into a bigger Warzone than it already is!

 

Michael:

She's right! New York may never be able to recover in the aftermath. Plus there is no guaranteed that the Underground would just let people leave like that! An evacuation of a city would take days, we be lining everyone up for an attack.

 

Mayor:

Then what do you suppose we do then?

 

Michael:

I've spoken to Mr. Knight. He is nearly finish with the repairs of the Silver Knight!

 

Mayor:

So, the Silver Knight has not been able to find the Underground Citizens base! Face it... were out of option!

 

     The Mayor said, completely with no will to go on.

 

Lydia:

Sir... who is Albert Wilson?

 

The Mayor's eyes widened, when he heard that name, but he remained silent for a moment and Michael looked confused. The Mayor then stood up from his chair and walked towards a window. He stood there looking out the window, still silent.

 

Mayor:

…. Albert Wilson was an old Colleague of mine, we were college roommates and friends. He ran a successful business, I was his Attorney. However... there were scandals of him laundering money, corruption, illegal deals! An entire investigation was performed and it sadly the evidence supported it all. He asked me for help. I had just started my political career, I feared that if I had gotten involved, it would damage my reputation.... so I distance myself, cut off contact with Albert. Albert manage to not serve any time, by cutting a deal against those, of his illegal businesses, but his company was ruined, partners backed out, his assets were seized, he lost everything and his family were tossed into the streets. Last I heard... they just disappeared.

 

Michael:

So... This Albert Wilson is the Underground King!

 

Lyla:

His Wife must've been a casualty during the Cleansing Of Fire and that's why he started this war!

 

Michael:

And now that his son is dead, he's even more unhinged!

 

Mayor:

Albert always had a temper in him back in the day, but when he married and had a son, he became a new man. Now he's lost everything and his taking it out on this city!

 

Lyla:

He may attempt another attack on you sir, we should move you out of the city until this mess is finished!

 

Michael:

I agree!

 

     The mayor remained silent and just looked out the window. Michael and Lyla left the room and walked through the hallway!

 

Michael:

We should arrange transport to get him out of the city tonight!

 

Lyla:

Right... I'll arrange a chopper, you gather an escort team ~

 

     BOOOOM!!!

 

     A loud explosion was heard, both Michael and Lyla heard coming from the Mayor's room and they rushed back and open the door, but saw a giant in where the windows were and the Mayor gone.

 

     Officers , including  Michael Lyla rushed out of the building and began a sweep around the area in search of the Mayor.

 

Michael:

Find the nearest sewer entrance, they must have taken him there!

 

     As they search they find one, as they tried to open it, the cover would not budge.

 

Officer #1:

We can't lift it it's been welded shut!

 

Lyla:

Alright, I want a five men teams to head out and find the nearest entrance to the sewers  and do a sweep, we have got to catch up to them before they get too far!

 

     As officer's got into their vehicles and drove off, Michael enter his car, but before he started the engine, he was grabbed! He tried to struggled but his attacker pulled a knife to his neck!

 

???:

Listen, you are not gonna find the Mayor, The Underground Citizen's know the Sewers, they know how to use them to their advantage!

 

Michael:

What do you want?

 

???:

To put an end to this war, to stop the Underground King!

 

     The Assailant then put away the knife and released Michael:

 

Michael:

Aren't you with the Underground Citizens?

 

Underground Citizen:

Yes, like the other's I was wronged and cast out into the streets and for a time I believed in what we were doing, finally taking something back! Now... I see that all we have done to just bring more hurt on this city and now children are paying for it!

 

Michael:

Are there others?

 

Underground Citizens:

Yes and they will be ready to help, but listen, kidnapping the Mayor was only the first step in what the Underground King has plan!

 

     He said, starring at Michael and him looking back at him, waiting to hear more!

 

     Meanwhile in the sewers a group of Underground Citizens are being attack by the DarkShadow, he kills two of them that were shooting with his swords, he kills another, by grabbing his neck with his chain and ripped off his head, a woman jump on his back and started to repeatedly stab him, DarkShadow get's free by turning into Dark Smoke and reforming behind her and snaps her neck. The final man injected himself with a serum and his strength enhanced, the DarkShadow first fought him hand to hand, then kicked him in the side, making him crash into the wall, then stabbed the Underground Citizens, pinning him to the wall!

 

DarkShadow:

Where is the Underground King!?

 

     He asked, as he pushed the sword deeper into the Underground Citizen, causing him to feel more pain!

 

Underground Citizen:

AAAAAAGH! Go ahead... Kill me! You'll~

    

     Before he finished, DarkShadow sliced him in half!

 

DarkShadow:

Very well!


     DarkShadow proceeds to explore the sewers further. He moves deeper into the sewer, he sees an intersection, as he gets closer, unbeknownst to him a Underground Citizen hides behind the wall of the intersection, she hears DarkShadow's footsteps as he steps on the sewer water. As he come across the intersection, the Underground Citizen pulls herself up from a above wall pipe, DarkShadow spots her but before he could react, she turns on a electric taser nd drops it into the water electrifying the DarkShadow in the process.


DarkShadow:

Aaaaaaaaaa!

     The DarkShadow yelled out, then when the discharge was over, he collapse  the floor. The Underground Citizen then let go of the pipe onto the floor and took out a hand held radio.

Female Underground Citizen:

Sire, this Kathy, I have the DarkShadow... he's down!


Underground King:

Is he dead?

     He asked her, she then leaned down and placed her two fingers in the DarkShadow's neck to feel for a pulse.

(Bump... Bump)

Kathy:

Yes, he's still alive!

Underground King:

Good... bring him to me!


 Back topside, Michael and Lydia and speaking to the Underground Citizen that says he wants to help.


Lydia:

Alright talk!


Underground Citizen:

My name is Andy Carl!


Lydia:

I don't want to know about your name I want to know what The Underground King is planning with the Mayor, the kids he's planning on using, his plan for the Mayor and this City, so we can stop him and save lives, especially those kids!


Andy:

Right, of course! I just want to say that I'm sorry for my part in all this and the others that are with me, feel the same. We just got so tired in being treated like trash, when that fire hit our home that we worked so hard in making and losing so many friends and family, we just snapped and wanted to take something back, but now I see that all we were doing was just binging more pain!


Michael:

I'm sorry for what you went through during the Cleansing of Fire attack, we didn't know that people were living in the sewers. We tried to stop it before it could happen but were too late, the only thing left was to stop it as soon as possible before it could spread even further.


Andy:

Yes, I understand that now.


Lydia:

Andy, tell us what the Underground King is up to.


Andy:

I don't know his full plan, but I know that kidnapping the mayor is to first disorient you all, while he's preparing for his forces for the final assault.


Michael:

How are they going to pull it off?


Andy:

Again I don't know all the detail, but he's having all citizens preparing to fight, but one of his main targets are the bridges that lead in and out of the city and his planning on using the kids again.


Lydia:

Dear God, he's planning to strap more bombs on them and blow up the bridges and with already so many people working on leaving the city, it's gonna be impossible to spot them.


Andy:

Yes, he's going to sacrifice for children, so he can cut of the city!


   Both Michael and Lydia were speechless and looked at each other over what the Underground King has planned.

     Meanwhile back in the Underground The DarkShadow still unconscious is being dragged by two men by his shoulders with his hands cuffed to his back. One of the men hits the DarkShadow in head, making him regain conscious he looks around and sees the Mayor on his knees and being held down as well, he then notices someone walking up to him, The DarkShadow looks up and sees the Underground King looking down at him.

Underground King:

The DarkShadow... at log last you and I meet! I'm glad you here cause before you die I want you to watch as we Finally reclaim out City!!

     He says, as he raises his arms up, the DarkShadow then hears hands clapping and cheering! He turns his head and sees and army of Underground Citizens, with weapons ready to fight!
