Marauder Season 2 Episode 3

The Marauder returns to Vegas to warn Kelsy and Oz of the Black Angels. Cliff Corporation opens a new building in the city.

Upon his flight home, the Marauder had questions racing through his mind. Who are the Black Angels? Was the Light Energy Artifact the source of their powers? How did I end up in another country after the battle? He was interrupted by the PA telling them they would be landing soon. After landing, Oz said he would pick him up at the airport.

"Welcome back." Oz shakes his friends' hand. "I take it your trip was successful?"

"Somewhat. There's something I need to show you both back at the lab."

Oz and Casey got back to the base, and began to unload. Kelsy was waiting for them inside the lab. She seemed to be looking at something on a screen which caught Casey's attention. He noticed a banquet of food and forgotten how hungry he was.

"Welcome back." She said. "I found something that might be of interest to you." She tapped on the monitor revealing a news article.

"I have something interesting too." Casey said, putting down his plate. "What's this about?" He said, eyeing the screen.

"Michael Cliff came to town while you were gone. You ever hear of Cliff Corporation?"

"No. Are they new?"

"Not really. For some reason, they had to move their buisness here. They originally operated out of California but I guess they had to transfer. They're some kind of tech company."

"Interesting. We'll keep tabs on them." Casey then began uploading the footage of his encounter with the Black Angels. He was a bit amused of Oz and Kelsy's fascial expressions as they viewed the footage.

"Are they some kind of demon?" Oz asked, analyzing every frame of footage with machine-like precision.

"That's what I thought at first, but they appeared more humanoid. Also, they were in possesion of a light energy artifact. And they call themselves the Black Angels."

"Fitting name." Kelsy commented. "Exactly how many light and dark energy artifacts have we discovered?"

"The first dark was the one that gave me my powers. The first light was powering the bomb used in Opus's mechs. The second light was in the hands of the Black Angels. I don't know how many of each there are total but I feel as if we need to find them and destroy then before they get into the wrong hands."

"Good thinking. Do these Black Angels have any sort of weakness?"

"I did seem to notice one. During our fight they kept their artifact close by. Then they retreated after one of them felt as if my dark energy was weakening their powers. My theory is that when light energy interacts with dark, it cancels the opposite out, creating a neutral zone. If we could find another light energy artifact, we could use that to our advantage."

"I'll use the network to scan for any light energy artifact radiation." Oz begins typing away at the computer.

The next day, Casey and Oz go to the grand opening of Cliff Corps' new building. Upon arriving, the area was well secured. Casey could see Captain Dawes managing security. Not too much later, a black limo pulls up. Michael Cliff steps out and makes his way to the bottom of the stage. An announcer steps up.

"Ladies and gentleman, I am pleased to bring to you the latest addition to our city. This man has revolutionized the technological age as we know it. I am very proud to present to you, Mr. Michael Cliff!"

The audience claps as Cliff steps up onto the stage.

"His stuff's amature compared to ours." Casey teased. Oz chuckled.

"Thank you everyone for allowing me to come today. It is my great honor to have our company in this great city. I plan to donate assistive and new technology to schools, homes, and buisnesses to help them thrive."

The audience cheers.

"Everyone, the building you see before you contains everything we need for a brighter future. Please, I invite you to try out our interactive center. Welcome to Cliff Corp."

More applause was followed by camera clicks from the press. Oz and Casey make their way into the building. The tech they tried was pretty impressive, but Casey knew he could easily top it. After spending an hour or so there, they head back to base.

Casey and Oz found Kelsy looking at the screens again. "Guys, I've got some bad news."

"We've faced worse. What is it?"

"We thought we got rid of the Red Serpents, but I found some...rumors."

"What rumors?" Casey asks.

"Rumors of a sub-group of the Red Serpents still being alive. Look at this."

Kelsy shows Casey an article explaining that the Red Serpents logo was seen vandalized somewhere in New York. If they were as subtle as the were all this time hiding from them, then they were going to be hard to find.

"I know what I must do. I'm going to New York."

"Then we're going with you." Kelsy says, offering help.

"No. I must do this alone. Knowing that the Black Angels could be anywhere and that the Serpents are still out there could put people we know in danger. It'd be best if you and Oz stay here."

"If you think that's what's best, we'll stay."

Casey nods at Kelsy and Oz. After all, he needed someone to keep an eye on the lab and the city while he was gone. He also had an idea for a secret project he would begin on after he got back. He would tell Kelsy and Oz eventually but felt he needed a private place to work on things.

Oz drops Casey off at the airport. "I'm starting to feel like your chaufer." He says as Casey takes his luggage out of the trunk.

"Don't. Just think of it as a favor, and I'll return it eventually. Thanks again."

The two shake hands and Casey makes his way to his gate. Who knows what awaits him in New York. He heard rumors of someome else like him there, and wondered if they'd cross path. It was a big place, and anything could happen. He only hoped that he wouldn't have to cross paths with the Black Angels while he was away.
